Federal identification number needed for commercial motor vehicles used in agriculture.

  • Farmers can obtain necessary USDOT number by contacting Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Federal regulations define a commercial motor vehicle as any self-propelled or towed vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating, a gross combination weight rating, or a gross combination weight of 10,001 or more pounds. The regulations apply to all commercial motor vehicles traveling within Wisconsin (intrastate) as well as between states (interstate).
